Javier Milei continues to receive worldwide praise: he was awarded “Economist of the Year”

President Javier Milei received this Monday at Casa Rosada the Minister of Human Capital, Sandra Pettovello , and representatives of the Order of Economists of Brazil (OEB), who notified him that he was chosen as "Economist of the Year" by the prestigious Brazilian organization. This was reported by the President's Office on the social network X.

The OEB, an entity with more than 90 years of existence and recognized as the oldest representative of economists in Brazil, highlighted Milei's career and his impact on the profession. "The 'Economist of the Year' award ceremony aims to recognize the professional whose performance values ​​and dignifies the image of the profession of economist," they stated in the letter sent to the president.

The organization stressed that Milei's choice "could not have been more appropriate," since "he assumed the position of President of the Argentine Republic and has acted with absolute propriety in the conduct of his economic and structural policy." In addition, they highlighted that the Argentine government's decisions have allowed "a reduction in unnecessary expenses and the stabilization of the economy" at a time of "great uncertainty and volatility in the markets."

The leader of La Libertad Avanza received official notification of the award at the meeting with the OEB authorities, who gave him a document detailing the recognition. "It is an honor to inform you that VE has been chosen to receive the title of 'ECONOMIST OF THE YEAR' for 2025, by decision of its Board of Directors and Superior Council," says the document signed by the president of the entity, Manuel Enrique García.

The prize has been awarded annually since 1959 and honours economists whose work has been significant for the profession and society. According to the document, the award ceremony will take place "in mid-August 2025". In addition to the trophy, Milei will receive a "diploma alluding to the event".

The OEB expressed its confidence that the president will accept the award as a "recognition of his achievements and efforts in favor of strengthening the Argentine economy." They also made available to the president the communication channels to coordinate the presentation of the award.
